IF DSLR FILMMAKING WASN’T HUGE, WOULD THERE BE A CONFERENCE?

collisionconferenceThe 1st annual Collision Conference in Hollywood just took place, and there’s a lot of buzz in the filmmaking world about the future of digital cinematography. A lot of big names in the industry showed up to put in their two cents, including the now famous Vincent Laforet (made famous by Reverie, one of the very first 5D short films) and “Terminator Salvation” DP Shane Hurlbut, whom was rumored to have been inter-cutting 5D footage into the film. Shane is also the man that Christian Bale freaked out at on set, if any of you remember that from a while back…

Anyways, the conference was basically 2 days of education for photographers and videographers on how their worlds are now converging in on one another and how they can be ahead of the game with this new digital revolution. Man, wish I could have been there… But one quote that stood out to me that was stated at the conference that I believe will always ring true was this:

“Filmmakers, you are now photographers. Photographers you’re not filmmakers now…”

HOT ROD CAMERAS’ PL MOUNT FOR THE GH1

I stumbled upon this a few weeks ago, and after seeing it in use, I think we’re going to see a lot more filmmakers using the GH1 as their go to camera. The PL mount allows you attach traditional film lenses to the GH1, such as Zeiss DigiPrimes, Panavision lenses, or those that come with the RED. As a bonus, I found this amazing camera comparison video that pits the Panasonic GH1, Canon 5D Mark II, and The RED against each other.  Check it out below!
