THE 1D MARK IV: KICKIN’ THE 7D’S TEETH IN

IT’S HERE! IT’S SHEER MADNESS! GET USED TO IT!

Canon made it’s official press release today on the 1D Mark IV. For the longest time, the 1D line had been regarded as Canon’s “flagship” line of cameras and they proved that today with this guy. A lot was rumored, speculated, and discussed about this camera and for the most part Canon delivered everything we wanted and more. I’m for one incredibly impressed and for the projected price of roughly $5000, I feel like it really packs a punch!

Feel like the 5D Mark II is getting left in the dust? Worry no more, we’re finally getting the firmware update we asked for! 24P!

FIRMWARE 1.1.4 FOR CANON 5D MARK II??

News about a Firmware version 1.1.4 for the 5D Mark II has surfaced over at CanonRumors.com and I for one couldn’t be more excited! For anyone who owns a 5D and has been following our blogs on the 7D, you know it would be really frickin’ nice if Canon would throw us a bone and give us 24p. Now, before I get ahead of myself, there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of information out about it yet… In fact, upon attempting to use my 2 years of high school French to translate the workflow, I’m still decently confused as to whether it’s showing an actual firmware update, or existing 5D footage is being conformed to 24/25p. To be honest, what intrigued me the most was the person using the 5D.

Jean-Jacques Annaud, French director extraordinaire (Director of “Enemy At The Gates,” “Seven Years In Tibet”) used a 5D Mark II recently as a B Cam on an “unknown” film and was gracious enough to take us through his workflow. This is where the frenzy started…
