So now as it stands, the only companies that I know of that haven’t dropped a video DSLR on the market are Kodak and Sony. Funny, because I thought Sony would have joined the race a long time ago…
The current trend in the DSLR world is making cameras cheaper to consumers who aren’t looking to do amazing video… Just a little video. And that’s exactly where the Pentax K-X lands; right smack in the middle of the pack. But for it’s price tag, it vastly outweighs it’s competitors in the same price range, namely the Olympus E-620 and the Sony Alpha DSLR-A330.
As far as it’s video options go, you don’t get much… 720p at 24p. But for a price tag of $650 (including a 18-55mm lens) it’s one hell of a bargin!

News about a Firmware version 1.1.4 for the 5D Mark II has surfaced over at CanonRumors.com and I for one couldn’t be more excited! For anyone who owns a 5D and has been following our blogs on the 7D, you know it would be really frickin’ nice if Canon would throw us a bone and give us 24p. Now, before I get ahead of myself, there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of information out about it yet… In fact, upon attempting to use my 2 years of high school French to translate the workflow, I’m still decently confused as to whether it’s showing an actual firmware update, or existing 5D footage is being conformed to 24/25p. To be honest, what intrigued me the most was the person using the 5D.
Jean-Jacques Annaud, French director extraordinaire (Director of “Enemy At The Gates,” “Seven Years In Tibet”) used a 5D Mark II recently as a B Cam on an “unknown” film and was gracious enough to take us through his workflow. This is where the frenzy started…
We’re a little late on this meme… but in our defense it feels like a new Hitler Downfall video is coming out every week.
If you’re reading all the camera blogs, then you know what we’ve already known for the last couple of weeks.
-There is a camera called the 7D
- It’s gonna blow our minds (biblically)
- I made a diagram of what it means
